RESPONSE TO COVID-19

I offer individual psychotherapy and psychoanalysis, and marital and couple therapy on an online video platform or by telephone. When it is safe to do so, face to face sessions will resume.

Therapy services for health care professionals

The COVID-19 pandemic is causing real stress for health care workers that can be psychologically traumatic. I provide psychotherapy for health care professionals working in the midst of the COVID 19 pandemic treating trauma and vicarious traumatization.

Welcome to my website. I am a psychotherapist and psychoanalyst, couple's therapist, clinical supervisor, and faculty member in a number of university and institute psychotherapy and psychoanalytic training programs. I have practiced and taught in Toronto for more than 35 years.

Clients come to see me for a range of reasons. Life's path is rarely straightforward. Life transitions may overwhelm us. Goals may feel too difficult to achieve. Disappointments may lead to painful struggles. Relationships may become contentious. People suffer with mood and anxiety problems or from Post Traumatic Stress. Other people struggle with the aftermath of health crises that bring physical and psychological consequences. At times, childhood trauma intrudes into daily life. Sometimes, all we can manage is to put one foot in front of the next.

Psychotherapy works when you join together with an active professional partner in the healing process. Treatment leads to a more authentic and fulfilled life, to a stronger sense of self, to improved relationships, to adaptation and resilience following illness and to greater success in the achievement of life goals.

It is important that you find a therapist whose personal and professional style is right for you. This “fit” means having a sense of comfort that you are heard and understood, that your therapist “gets” you. Although evaluating that fit may take a few sessions, it is worth the time so that you can gauge your own level of comfort in the relationship.

As you navigate this website, you will find descriptions of psychotherapy and psychoanalysis, couple’s therapy and supervision in the drop-down menus. You will also find information about my background and training, including references to my publications and presentations.  And you will find answers to “Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ). Finally, you will find information on what to expect in therapy, how to contact me, and my office location.
